Road Trip!

Ro-man and family left on Wednesday to go visit the great-grandparents in Ohio. Ro-man wasn't quite sure about the whole "load the entire house into the back of the station wagon" thing that was happening on Tuesday. It was so disconcerting that he decided that it would be wise to stay up all night on Tuesday night, so Mama and Dadda only got about 3 hours of sleep.

We left at 8 am on Wednesday and made our first stop in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Ro-man got his first experience with the McDonald's playground. After a brief stop there, we continued westward toward New York.

Our next stop was at Pine Lake, the Environmental Campus of Hartwick College, in Oneonta, New York. Dadda lived at Pine Lake when he was a student at Hartwick, and we spent a couple of hours wandering around visiting his old haunts. This photo is from The Meadow at Pine Lake.

We had dinner at the Neptune Diner in Oneonta, then proceeded through cow country north to I-90. We stopped for the night about 15 miles east of Rochester.

On Thursday we drove along Route 5 and visited Erie State Park. Ro-man got to put his feet in Lake Erie and enjoy his favorite snack.

He then enjoyed a nap while Mama and Dadda enjoyed the scenery in New York and Pennsylvania wine country.

We then took the interstate south and were in Poland, Ohio (near Youngstown) in time for dinner.

Great Nanna and Great Poppa were thrilled to see Ro-man walking all over and getting into everything. Their cats were not as pleased, however! Ro-man has been playing hide-and-seek with them since we arrived.

This morning we walked around the condo complex with Great Poppa and enjoyed lunch directed by Great Nanna. Everyone took a break for a nap after lunch, and we are expecting more fun and games this afternoon and evening. Ro-man and his entourage are planning to head east again on Saturday and hope to get home before dinner on Sunday.

Ro-Man is 14 months old

We haven't been doing a very good job of taking Ro-Man's monthly photos, but here are a few from the past week:

Ro-man's adventure

Ro-Man's daddy brought to my attention that I haven't updated the blog and people have been asking about Ro-Man's eye. He finished his drops and doesn't have to go back to the ophthalmologist until February. We're glad that ordeal is over!

He still loves to ride on Grandpa's tractor and is horribly offended if we don't go over there every single day to play! We are still trying to find fun things to do at home, but nothing can come close to the tractor.

Ro-man and Daddy recently survived 44 hours without Mama while she went with Cousin Amanda to see the Red Sox play for their last game in Yankee Stadium before it is demolished this year. The ladies tried to cram as much fun into 2 days as was possible: they took the train from Boston to New York and stayed near Times Square. The Red Sox lost after starting out with a 2-run lead. Jason Giambi (traitor to the A's and Red Sox Nemesis) hit the tying 2-run homer and the base hit that scored the winning run in the 9th inning.

Daddy was too busy to take photos of their adventure, so here are photos from Mama's trip:

There were A's fans everywhere! These ones flagged Amanda down at the diner:

At the game:

Amanda wants to see a game, eat a hot dog, and get a program at every major league ballpark before she's 30. The Yankees are too cheap to buy enough programs to last the month, so she's going to have to order one. But here's the hot dog!
